The Student Visa category is for individuals who are aged 16 or over and who wish to study on a further or higher education course in the UK. If applicants are between the age of 4 and 17 years old and wish to study at an independent school in the UK, then they must apply for a Child Student Visa instead.
In order to qualify for a UK Student Visa, individuals will need to satisfy the Home Office that they are aged 16 or over, have been offered an unconditional place on an approved course with a licensed student sponsor, can read, write, speak and understand English to at least CEFR Level B2 (if studying at degree level or above) or CEFR Level B1 (if studying at below degree level) and that they have enough money to support themselves and pay for their course without relying on public funds.
The exact requirements they will need to meet will vary depending on their personal circumstances and length of the study. Applicants cannot bring their partner or dependent children under this route unless they are studying a post-doctorate course. This route doesn’t not lead directly to settlement but switching to other relevant immigration routes may be possible. If you want to come to the UK on a student or child student visa, please feel free to contact us at hi@kb-law.co.uk, or Book an Appointment and we will be more than happy to legally assist you.
